Greg Hyer Shares Ultra Smart Job Seeker Tips and much, much more…
by Jeff Greene, a special contributor to  LinkingRaleighNC.com

He’s really smart.  He’s LinkingRaleighNC.com’s founder.  He successfully used LinkedIn.com to find and ultimately bag an exciting position (Yes, he actually trumped the “sour economy”)!

Now… he’s paying it forward by sharing these electrifying tips with Linking Raleigh, NC Group members!
Top-10 List - LinkedIn Searchability

“Trust me, these profile tips are simple to implement and they really work.” --Greg

10. List your email address right after your name in the first lines of your profile to make it ultra-easy for recruiters to contact you.

9. Use the first two lines on your profile to tell your very concise, very powerful success story.  Be sure to update your currently working on sentence often.  And, make sure that your statement jumps out at recruiters.

8. Content is king in the search world.  The more profile content you post the more chances of being found.

7. Accomplishments, accomplishments, accomplishments!  List all of them; summarize your achievements and marketable skills in bullet form too.

6. Be precise in listing yourself as a member of a common industry (Marketing, Management, Business Development, Sales, IT, etc.) in order to be more visible in recruiter searches.

5. Post your resume on the site.  Also make as many references to your website, blog and links to your white papers and published articles too.  And, find creative ways to list your honors, awards and personal interests any way you can.

4. Pay strict attention to the “contact” setting in order to be sure that only the people you want are able to search for you.

3. If you’re old, don’t list your graduation years on your profile.  No need to draw attention to your gray hairs.

2. Put your LinkedIn URL on resumes and business cards.  Send the link to your updated profile to as many 1st and 2nd level contacts as possible.  Get their feedback and change your profile again.  Repeating this will give you many opportunities and help insure that you are able to reach out to as many new 3rd level contacts as possible!

1. Recommendations really, really work.!!!  They are also valuable because you CANNOT modify what someone says about you. So be careful about whose kudos you choose to accept.

P.S.  Buy the 2nd edition of
Jason Alba’s book “I’m on LinkedIn - Now What???” as soon as it comes out this December.  Be sure to connect w/him to receive his newsletter too.  His tips are even better than mine!
