Taylor Barr of YoungTechStars.com Select By Ford To CompetePrintE-mail

Over the past few days a colleague of mine David Parsons, and I have been working hard on marketing/branding project using the power of Social Media and Video . See, we were invited to participate in a contest by Ford Motor Company on a new social media movement they are running called “The Fiesta Movement.” Here is Ford's pitch:

“We currently are looking for video influencers to participate in the Ford Fiesta Movement program that gives 100 Ford Fiestas (2010) to 100 social networking savvy drivers for 6 months (including free gas, insurance and concierge) from April to November 2009.”

Why are we doing this? We feel that as more corporations use Social media tactics in their PR and Marketing departments, it will bring much more validity to the industry. We want to set the bar and show companies that using social media and video can ACTUALLY increase awareness and brand equity.

Part of Ford’s competition is that they are going to be voting and picking the best videos uploaded to YouTube. From there, a select few will be embedded on the Ford site and they will pick from there the winners. Part of their decision is based off of YouTube view counts. SO watch and pass it on!
